What is Tandem or Trolley?
The trolley is a slang word, and this is a steel wire basket, a wire basket made from stainless steel mesh. Basket of wires are thin and thick depending upon the use case scenario, and a wired basket made from stainless steel it’s made from wires. Tandems are available in channel format; they are tandems only. Anything does not come with a tandem; we have to make a trolley.
In an SS wire basket case, we already have a trolley with baskets, and we can fix that trolley into a channel. Both are having opposite ways of working. Tandem has a new technology; they work vertically, like one channel is over the other, and in a wire basket, we have to place the channels separately. In comparison with tandem or wire baskets, output of wire baskets is lower.
The tandem trolley system it’s very durable. It works one above the other, that’s why the weight-loading capacity increases. Normal telescopic channels are carrying a maximum of 3 to 15 kg weight, whereas the tandem’s capacity is 30 to 60 kg weight, that’s why the tandem is very durable.
Soft Close V/S Non-Soft Close System
Regular telescopic channels we use in ss trolley & wire baskets, they are not available in a soft close by default. Nowadays like these channels are available they, are providing soft-close features. But that is not as good as the tandem soft close features we got.
Tandem channels are available in the same channels that comes in ss trolleys. That’s called in slang word Quadro channels in that you are having soft closed features much better, but ss trolleys & soft close combination is not better than tandem or trolley, tandem technology is made softly closed by default. That’s premium-ness it’s not match with ss trolleys.
Customize Size of the SS Trolley?
SS trolleys are made according to their choice, and they are already customized by default. They are available in ready-made format, like in big brands like ebco, hettich give a ready-made size to you; they can’t customize it for you. If you buy it from a local vendor or an interior designer, they can give you a properly customized channel. Size-wise, they can choose a channel.
Customize the Size of the Tandem?
Tandems are made by big companies, but local vendors are not. It has two criteria: first, weight capacity, and second, depth, which is also fixed. We can’t change the depth, but the company provides us with two or four sizes of depth that are ideal for every kitchen platform.
We can derive their width, but we kept in mind only weight capacity. While tandems are made, we use plywood, and we can’t increase the plywood width; you can go with 36 inches. It’s ideal without worries, but you have to consider the weight capacity, which does not achieve overweight storage capacity.
Types of Hinges for the Kitchen?
If you are ready to spend more money, in the case of a basket, you go with the tandem; this is a better and upgraded technology. When compared with a traditional trolley, I always prefer to go with the tandem. Traditional butt-hinges have less maintenance, weight capacity, and durability.
Butt-hinges have these benefits, but I like the soft-close effect comparatively, and this is also beneficial for designers. After placing the butt-hinges, you can change the level of adjustment. These adjustments aren’t possible with traditional hinges. I used to recommend both hinges.
Recommended Brands for Hinges?
In traditional hinges, you see only materials; you can take SS hinges, or secondary brass hinges, in that you don’t have a variety of hinges. In cabinet hinges, you can take Indian brands like Ebco; in a foreign brand, you can take Hettich, Hafele, Blum, etc.
Recommended Brands for Trolley?
Hettich, Ebco—these brands are making trolleys, but they have fixed sizes. If you want a customised trolley, you take it from a local vendor, and then you have to consider grades 202 and 304. 202 grade is semi- or medium-grade steel, and 304 grade is a premium or purely stainless-steel grade. 304 grade is more recommended because its kitchen steel trolley remains water. which corrodes steel wire baskets. You can go with 304-grade.So you can go with 304-grade.
Once again, ebco, olive, and godrej, these Indian brands, make tandems; hettich, hafele, and blum, these foreign brands, also make tandems. These brands are all good.
Types of Drawer Organizers in Tandem?
In tandem technology, it’s not having divisions, but in a trolley case, we pre-built the divisions, like we kept thalis in that we have to make slots in that cutlery slots/organiser, thali/plate racks, which you can also place in a SS trolley.
In this case, most people think the cutlery rack is useful and that it also comes with a jar organizer, dish organizers, and 10 or 15 accessories that are available in tandem.

If you are placed on top of the shutter, take a ring, and you can place a dustbin into it, which is very cheap. Anyone can place that ring in a trash can.
If you are using good technology, top brands, and top companies in that you are using wet and dry technology, segregate your waste. This will be placed in your shutters and also into the platform’s vertical side partitions. This is made by top companies like Ebco, Hettich, Hafele, etc. It also works well; they are top-selling products.
Best Utilization of Kitchen Platform Corner?
Ideally, only one piece of hardware is needed for utilizing the kitchen platform corners, which is called a carousel or magic corner. Different names are used by different companies for that hardware. Basically, our hands do not go there; this is working on a channel, pivot, or mixed combinations of two different companies having a different way of making it.
Ultimately, one disadvantage is that it does not carry more weight because it’s going on a channel or pivot; if you want channels to have more weight, then you have to go with the costliest product, so you can sustain this weight. The total area of the corners is 100%, but only 60 and 70% of the corner space is used, and the remaining space is not in any use.
Best Brand for Magic Corner/Carousel?
You can choose a carousel from any famous company brand, and while you are selecting it, you have to consider weight capacity and what you like in a mechanism like a pivot or a channel.
In a pivot, there is less utilization of space, and in a channel, there are two segregations in a rectangle format. Any such product in Magic Corners, like pivot and channel, both carry the same weight, so you can select this product.
Shutter can be Open-Close Automatically?
One famous company, Blum, produced that type of shutter; they gave it the name “server-drive technology. Nowadays, most of the technologies give that type of technology: into this shutter, they placed an electric motor; you pressed that button, then the electric motor pushed that channel, and then the trolley opened.
Overhead storage also has button mechanism technology, but in this storage, an electric motor will trigger the hydraulic pump; ultimately, this is a motor-based technology.
Cost of Server-Drive fitting & its Recommendable Or Not?
It’s recommendable because that fitting is electrically based and involves twisting the wire in the entire kitchen, so if you faced that problem, the timing of the maintenance would become the costliest.
If you are going to buy a servo drive, it starts at 20,000 to 25,000; only the servo drive you can use for your kitchen costs in lacs.
Hardware is Required for uplift the Shutter?
In this case, a hydraulic pump is ideal. It is placed in terms of weight, like a small box having a small hydraulic pump or a big and heavy box having a big hydraulic pump, and it is also placed on normal hinges in those boxes.
Then you place a gas pump, which takes shutters, loads them, and holds them. You can close them by pulling the shutters, and they automatically close. Regular gas pumps do not have soft-close features; some companies provide hydraulic pumps with soft-close hinges, but they don’t carry more weight.
